DIGITAL ART WORKS AS COLLECTIBLES

Abstract

The relevance of the study is due to the need to analyze digital art as a phenomenon of modern culture, new collecting mechanisms and the impact of these processes on the traditional art market, art and society in general. The purpose of the article is to analyze the features of collecting works of digital art. The research methodology is based on a combination of general scientific and special methods and approaches – analysis, synthesis, comparison, case study, bibliographic, etc. The combination of these methods makes it possible to investigate the phenomenon of digital art as a collectible, to assess its impact on the modern art market. Scientific novelty. For the first time in Ukrainian art history, attention has been paid to the possibilities of digital art in creating private collections. Conclusions. Digital art and NFT have opened a new era not only for artists, but also for collectors. Thanks to the introduction of blockchain and NFT technologies, digital artworks have acquired the status of collectibles, which ensures their uniqueness, authenticity and monetization. NFTs have redefined what uniqueness means in art. New collectors are more interested in creativity, innovation, and the cultural and social aspects of art than its material value. NFTs play a key role in shaping the digital art market, providing artists and collectors with the opportunity to establish direct relationships, as well as resolve issues of ownership and rights to works. Among the most valuable works of digital art: projects by Larva Labs, works by Pak, Beeple, etc. Thus, digital art is transforming the traditional art market, creating new opportunities for artists and collectors, in particular through globalization, lowering barriers to entry, and the availability of new creative formats. However, due to the saturation of the market, it is quite difficult for novice artists to stand out, so new collectors partly buy digital art to support creative people.
