ACADEMIC FINE ARTS OF VOLYN FROM THE SECOND HALF OF THE 20TH CENTURY TO MODERN TIMES: A REVIEW OF PERSONALITIES

Abstract

A review of the personalities of academic fine arts in Volyn from the second half of the 20th century to modern times focuses on the study of key figures who determined the development of the region’s artistic culture. The study examines artists whose work reflected the main stages of aesthetic changes and cultural transformations in Volyn, starting from the second half of the 20th century and continuing to modern trends. Particular attention is paid to the influence of political, social and cultural changes on the formation of artistic trends, as well as to the interaction of Volyn artists with all-Ukrainian and international trends. The purpose of the article – analysis of the development of academic fine arts in Volyn from the second half of the 20th century to modern times through a review of the work of leading artists of the region. The research methodology is based on the principles and tools of analysis and synthesis, systemic, typological, historical, logical, art history, and cultural analysis. A scientific innovation of the research consists in a systematic analysis of the academic fine arts of Volyn from the second half of the 20th century to the modern times through a review of the work of specific artists, which allows for the first time to outline the full spectrum of aesthetic changes that occurred in this region. The relationship between sociopolitical processes and artistic searches of Volyn artists was analyzed, which made it possible to work on the specifics of the development of artistic trends in the context of local and all-Ukrainian trends. Conclusions. Academic fine arts of Volyn from the second half of the 20th century to the modern times have gone through several key stages that reflect general cultural and social transformations in Ukraine. The creativity of Volyn artists clearly reflected the main socio-political changes in Ukraine. Under the influence of Soviet ideology, many artists choose traditional academic forms, but over time they gradually began to integrate newer artistic movements, including modernism and postmodernism, which became an important step in the development of Volyn art. Volyn artists became active participants in the process of forming Ukrainian cultural identity. They preserved not only academic traditions, but also adapted them to modern conditions, responding to the challenges of the time and contributing of Ukrainian fine arts development as a whole.
