CREATING A UX-ORIENTED INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT MODEL FOR LEARNING ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract

The article examines the problem of using the social network Instagram as an innovative educational tool for learning English language. Social platforms have become a place not just to communicate but to learn as well which prompts the need to develop pedagogically relevant and UX-oriented content models. Six educational accounts were analyzed (@bbclearningenglish, @cambridgeenglish, @ewa.english, @annavelychko_english, @englishwithlucy, @ learnenglishwithmusicsg) which made it possible to identify effective strategies for presenting educational material and typical mistakes in interacting with users. The strengths of these accounts include consistency, interactivity, visual appeal, and motivational potential. The weaknesses include fragmented content, insufficient structuring according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), lack of bilingualism, and limited adaptation for Ukrainianspeaking audience. Due to research findings a UX-oriented model of an Instagram account for daily English language learning has been presented, integrating the academic structure of BBC and Cambridge resources, the interactivity of mobile applications (EWA), and the creativity of educational blogs. The model content is structured for levels from A1 for beginners to C1 for those possessing high level of language proficiency and is presented in formats like Reels, carousels, Stories, Highlights, motivational posts, and live broadcasts. It features bilingualism (UA+EN), serial posts, convenient navigation, and gamification elements. Such approach provides users with user-friendly, mobile, and systematic learning, promotes the formation of long-term English language skills, and increases audience motivation and engagement. In brief, the proposed model is a good example of how a well-designed Instagram account can become a new type of educational environment meeting the needs of Ukrainian users.
