PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSISTANCE TO COMBATANTS AND THEIR FAMILIES AS AN IMPORTANT COMPONENT OF SOCIAL WORK IN MODERN CONDITIONS

The article analyses the main components of psychological assistance to combatants as a direction of social work in the context of their readaptation to civil society conditions. Social readaptation is understood as the process of harmonising a person with the surrounding world, during which contradictions between a certain type of personality (a former military serviceman and members of his family) and a certain type of social environment (new socio-economic conditions and the transition to a new type of professional activity) are resolved. In particular, it is noted that the social protection of military personnel who have participated in combat operations is one of the most important areas of military-social work in the Armed Forces and social work in general. It is a reliable guarantee of respect for the rights and legitimate interests of personnel, enhancing the prestige of military service, strengthening law and order and military discipline, maintaining a high level of morale and psychological well-being among military personnel, and, ultimately, is an important factor in the successful accomplishment of the tasks facing the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the War for Ukraine's Independence. It is emphasised that effective use of the recommendations is possible when the following factors are combined: positive motivation of military personnel aimed at the readaptation process; organisation of group and individual work taking into account the characteristics of the adaptation cycle at all stages of psychological assistance; organisation of social and psychological support and rehabilitation on an interdepartmental basis; the development and implementation of mechanisms for coordinating the interaction of all interested parties (ministries, departments, public organisations, volunteers, etc.); the participation of specially trained social workers and qualified psychological counsellors in programmes for the social and psychological readaptation of military personnel.
